This introductory unit lays the groundwork for the Effective Student™ program, focusing on developing executive functioning skills essential for academic success. Through lessons, exercises, and assessments, students learn the value of intentional effort, honest self-assessment, and a growth mindset.

Core Components:

  • Student and Teacher Introduction: Engages students and provides teachers with a guide for facilitating learning.
  • Quizzes, Bulletin, and Curriculum Maps: Tools to assess understanding, organize content, and aid implementation.
  • Self-Evaluation & Parent Resources: A baseline survey for students and materials for parents to support the curriculum.

Unit Goals:

  1. Build awareness of executive functioning skills and the practice-feedback cycle.
  2. Encourage a growth mindset.
  3. Introduce three principles of an Effective Student™:
    • Be intentional.
